An innocent night in a bar turned to an unplanned week-long trip to New Zealand. With good friends, pleasant weather and a hired Toyota Camry, we adventured on the south island.
A week is a short time to spend in New Zealand, and we only visited Christchurch, Franz Josef and Queenstown. In addition to seeing the magnificient sights while driving, I climbed the glaciers and hiked around in the same area where the Lord of the Rings was filmed. From Finland's viewpoint, I could say I was at the bottom of the world.
My time in Australia is running short. I've got only 46 days left, and some of that need to be wasted on studying. Worse, the past few days I've felt depression growing and it doesn't motivate you to doing much. I constantly think about all the places I will not have time to experience and all the friends I might never see again.
Every weekend someone's having a farewell party. It feels like something is being taken from you even though you didn't do anything wrong, and it is just not fair.
I'll get over it, eventually. Internet is a godsend for keeping in touch.
Still, I am not longing to go back to Finland. On several occasions I have investigated alternatives on taking on a job in Australia and staying a little longer, but finishing my degree is a more pressing matter.
This travel journal will soon turn quiet and the site will revert back to a more serious portfolio-type project showcase as it originally was built to be. But before that happens, I'll sure try my best to catch some good photos from whatever destinations I have left.
And as usual, the related gallery folder has more photos from New Zealand.
